The ink, I make, is the contrary: it writes a rather pale blue/greyish blue and darkens into a velvety black and the ultimate colour is almost entirely the IG component. There are many fans of Montblanc's Midnight Blue as it is a dark blue, almost black with a hint of purple undertone. The royal blue hasn't changed much since then.
